The Market

Monday the Dow closed up +140.62 (+0.94%) at 15,063.12.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +14.95%..

This morning the Dow was indicated to open up +67 points.

Apparently Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOG) were not in the running because their share prices are too large as the Dow is a price-weighted index.

European markets are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down six-tenths of a cent to $3.564 per gallon.

There are no Dow stocks expected to report earnings soon.

UTi Worldwide Inc. (UTIW) reported second quarter EPS of $0.05 on revenue of $1.13 billion, below expectations of EPS of $0.14 on revenue of $1.15 billion.

Avid Technology, Inc (AVID) is expected to announce a second quarter loss of $0.01 per share, compared to last year’s loss of $0.17 per share.

Triangle Petroleum Corporation (TPLM) is expected to announce EPS of $0.14, compared to last year’s loss of $0.02 per share.
