The Home Depot Inc. (HD) reported better-than-expected results for the second quarter of fiscal 2013. The company’s earnings of $1.24 per share exceeded consensus estimates for $1.19, primarily due to the recovery of the housing market in the U.S. Earnings were up +22.8% from the comparable prior-year period earnings of $1.01 a share. Sales increased +9.5% to $22,522 million compared with $20,570 million in the year-ago quarter.
Disney (DIS) shares are higher in premarket trade after the company’s heavily anticipated virtual reality game hit the shelves on Monday.
Wal-Mart (WMT) was downgraded to “Neutral” from “Positive” at Susquehanna.
The Fed minutes are due Wednesday.
European markets are lower and Asian markets ended lower.
The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent to $3.537 per gallon.

Aegean Marine Petroleum (ANW) reported second quarter EPS of $0.13, lower than the $0.17 that was expected. Revenue was in line with expectations at $1.69 billion
Bob Evans Farms, Inc. (BOBE) reported first quarter EPS of $0.58, in line with expectations, on revenue of $329.4 million which fell just short of the 335.19 million that was expected.
Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN) reported second quarter EPS of $0.51, beating the expected EPS of $0.48. The reported revenue came in at $758.50 million, just below expectations of $768.76 million
International Rectifier Corporation (IRF) reported a fourth quarter loss of $0.09 on $276.50 million in revenue.
