Market Happenings For Tuesday, June 04, 2013

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include Merck (MRK) and Microsoft (MSFT). There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Monday the Dow closed up +138.46 (+0.92%) at 15,254.03.

This morning the Dow was indicated to open up +13 points.

The U.S. government’s trade deficit rose to $40.3 billion in April from $37.1 billion in March, as imports outpaced exports.

n Turkey, the country’s benchmark index rallied after markets took a steep drop Monday in reaction to unrest and anti-government protests across the nation.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +16.41%.

European markets are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down four-tenths of a cent to $3.619 per gallon.

Earnings Reports

There are no Dow stocks on the horizon set to report earnings.

Bob Evans Farms (BOBE) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.64 vs. $0.80 a year ago.

Mattress Firm Holding Corp. (MFRM) is expected to report first quarter EPS of $0.37 vs. $0.31 a year ago.

Shuffle Master (SHFL) is expected to report second quarter EPS of $0.20 vs. $0.20 a year ago.

Analogic (ALOG) is expected to report third quarter EPS of $0.66 vs. $0.59 a year ago.
