The Market

Friday the Dow closed up +142.38 (+0.96%) at 14,973.96.

This morning the Dow is indicated to open near unchanged.

So, we did hit 15,000 on the Dow Friday. Maybe today we close above it.

Last week DJIA was up +1.8%, Nasdaq +3.0%, S&P 500 +2.0% and Russell 2000 +2.0%.

Year-to-date DJIA is up +14.3%, Nasdaq +11.9%, S&P 500 +13.2% and Russell 2000 +12.4%.

Retailers including McDonald’s (MCD), Home Depot (HD), J.C. Penney (JCP), Best Buy (BBY), Barnes & Noble (BKS), and Gap (GPS), lost a court bid to invalidate patents held by Alexsam related to systems that activate and recharge gift card.

Disney (DIS) shares are up premarket after the strong release of Iron Man 3.

European markets are mostly lower and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent to $3.521 per gallon from Friday.
