KO and JNJ Report: Market Happenings For Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Dow stocks at 52 week highs include HD, JNJ, PFE, PG, VA and WMT. There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Yesterday the Dow closed down -265.86 (-1.79%) at 14599.20.

This morning the Dow is indicated to open up +140 points (6:00 am PDT).

Yesterday there were horrible explosions at the Boston Marathon that left 3 dead and 140 injured.

Coca-Cola (KO ) reported Q1 EPS of 46 cents, which was better than the consensus of 44 cents. Shares are currently down.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported Q1 EPS of $1.44, which was better than the consensus of $1.39. Shares are currently down.

INTC reports earnings tonight after the close.

European markets are mixed and Asian markets ended mixed.

The national average price of gasoline is down a four-tenths of a cent to $3.522 per gallon.

Earnings Reports

Coca-Cola (KO) reported quarterly earnings excluding items of 46 cents per share, versus 45 cents in the comparable year-ago period. However, revenue dipped to $11.04 billion, from $11.14 billion a year ago. Analysts had expected Coca-Cola to report earnings per share of 45 cents on $10.94 billion in revenue.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reported earnings of $3.5 billion, or $1.22 per share, compared with $3.91 billion, or $1.41 per share, in the year-earlier quarter. Excluding special items, JNJ earned $1.44 per share. Analysts, on average had expected $1.40 per share. J&J also kept their earlier full-year 2013 profit forecast of $5.35 to $5.45 per share. JNJ earned $5.10 per share last year.
