The Dow closed Friday up +90.54 (+0.63%) at 14,512.03
Last week DJIA was down -2.08 points (nearly unchanged), Nasdaq -0.1%, S&P 500 -0.2% and Russell 2000 -0.7%.
Year-to-date DJIA is up +10.7%, Nasdaq +7.5%, S&P 500 +9.2% and Russell 2000 +11.4%.
The Dow is indicated to open up +31 this morning.
World markets got a boost higher Monday after Cyprus and EU negotiators reached a deal on a €10 billion bailout for the tiny island nation.
The new bailout program includes a deep restructuring of the country’s banking sector, but also will protect deposits of less than €100,000. The plan to tax all bank accounts, which enraged Cypriots, was shelved.
European markets are higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.
The national average price of gasoline is down four-tenths of a cent to $3.667 per gallon.
Earnings Reports
There are no Dow stocks set to announce earnings in the near term.
Apollo Group (APOL) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.18 vs. $0.58 a year ago.
Dollar General (DG) is expected to report fourth quarter EPS of $0.90 vs. $0.87 a year ago.
JA Solar (JASO) is expected to report a fourth quarter loss of $1.53 per share vs. a loss of $0.55 per share a year ago.
