Premarket, futures are up with the Dow showing an implied open of +57. There are no Dow stocks at 52 week highs, or lows. The Dow closed Friday at 14,000.57.
The Market
Last week DJIA was up +0.1%, Nasdaq -0.9%, S&P 500 -0.3% and Russell 2000 -0.8%.
Year-to-date DJIA is up +6.8%, Nasdaq +4.7%, S&P 500 +6.3% and Russell 2000 +7.9%.
Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) was up over 12% last week after beating on earnings and revenue. HP also gave an upbeat second quarter earnings guidance.
Wal-Mart (WMT) was up a bit last week after beating on earnings. The company did however issue first quarter guidance to the low end of analyst expectations. Wal-Mart also said it expects comparable store sales to be flat during the first quarter.
The national average price of gasoline held steady at $3.777 per gallon.
European markets are higher and Asian markets closed higher.
