DJIA Market Close For Monday, February 04, 2013

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down -129.71 (-0.93%) to close at 13,880.08

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were both down over 1%.

The VIX was up +13.72% to 14.67 today.

There was only one Dow stock up today and remarkably, it was Boeing (BA), up +0.45%.

Dow losers were led by TRV -2.37%, MRK -2.34%, BAC -1.96%, MSFT -1.75% and HPQ -1.70%.

Spanish bond yields rose after Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy faced calls to resign amid a corruption scandal.

Factory orders for December rose 1.8 percent compared to a decline of 0.3 percent in November and was below forecasts calling for a rise of three percent.

Oil prices sank 1.6%, while gold prices edged higher.

The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note was unchanged at 2%.

The U.S. dollar gained versus the euro, but was down against the British pound and Japanese yen.
