DJIA Market Close For Thursday, December 13, 2012

The Dow closed down -74.73 (-0.56%) at 13,170.72.

On this down day, Dow stock strength was found in CAT (+0.47%), WMT, AXP, CSCO and JPM.

No strength was to be found in these Dow stock losers which included MRK (-1.96%), UNH, BA, DIS, XOM, PG, INTC and HD.

I think we can blame the loss today on the fiscal cliff.

Maybe investors are like me, unwilling to commit more money until we get some fiscal closure.

And maybe they will, like me, raise more cash the longer this fiscal thing plays on.

Gold, silver and oil were up today.

Bond prices fell, with the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note rising to 1.72%.

The U.S. dollar was down against the euro and British pound, but gained against the Japanese yen.

And the world keeps turning.
