DJIA Market Close For Monday, October 08, 2012

The Dow closed down -26.50 (-0.19%) at 13,583.65.

There were 11 Dow stocks up, led by UNH (+0.82%), MCD, AXP, MMM and AA. KO was unchanged. Losers were led by HD (-2.09%), HPQ, DIS, VZ and GE.

Today we had 52 week new highs from WMT and MMM.

UnitedHealth Group (UNH) moved higher after the health insurance company announced a nearly $5 billion buyout of Brazilian’s largest health care company, Amil.

The dollar was up against the euro and British pound, but fell versus the Japanese yen.

Oil for November delivery slipped 55 cents to $89.33 a barrel.

Gold futures for December delivery lost $5.10 to end at $1,775.70 an ounce.

Tomorrow we have earnings from AA after the close.

Here’s my thought for October, we go higher.
