DJIA Market Close For Thursday, October 04, 2012

The Dow closed up +80.75 (+0.60%) at 13,576.36.

There were 5 Dow stocks in the red zone, down on the day. They were INTC (-0.38%), CSCO, IBM, HD and UTX,

So, we had 25 Dow stocks in the green zone. Even HPQ, which was down a couple of percent this morning, closed up +0.20%.

Dow stock leaders were AA (+3.30%), BAC, JPM, VZ, UNH and AXP.

Financial stocks, Citigroup (C), Bank of America (BAC), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), and Morgan Stanley (MS) all surged between 2% and 4%.

HPQ did close higher, but intraday, it had a new 52 week low.

Draghi said the ECB stands ready to buy bonds, but it’s now up to political leaders to seek assistance as needed.

The dollar was down against the euro and British pound, but gained against the Japanese yen.

Oil for November delivery rose $3.57 to $91.71 a barrel.

Gold futures for December delivery added $16.70 to $1,796.50 an ounce.

The price on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury was down, pushing the yield up slightly to 1.67% from 1.62% late Wednesday.

Tomorrow STZ is expected to report earnings before the open.

Remember, tomorrow we get the Jobs report.
