DJIA Market Close for Monday, September 17, 2012

The Dow closed down -40.27 (-0.30%) at 13,553.10.

Well, Dow 14,000 is only +3.29% away. I think we hit it sometime in October or early November. Then it’s an Obama win and Dow 16,000 by March 2013.

Tonight we have XOM, PG and CVX hitting new 52 week highs, although PG is the only one to close higher.

The September Empire State Manufacturing Survey, came in worse than expected and signaled further weakness in manufacturing in New York.

Gold futures for December delivery fell $2.10 to $1,77.60 an ounce.

The price on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury rose slightly, pushing the yield down to 1.84% from 1.87% late Friday.

Tomorrow before the open, notable stocks expected to report earnings include FDX, MANU and SHF.

New High of the Day – Procter & Gamble (PG).
