Home Price Up: Market Happenings for Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Premarket, futures are up a bit. Gainers this morning include STI, ABC, XRAY, VLO and X while losers include COH (-15.17%), HUM, STX, ADM annd TIF.

The Market

Pfizer (PFE) reported earnings of 0.43 per share compared to 0.33 a year ago. Earnings were 0.62 per share excluding one-time items. Analysts were expecting 0.54 per share.

The Fed meeting starts today and ends tomorrow with an announcement at 11:15 am PDT here in the Wild West.

European markets were mixed in afternoon trading and Asian markets ended mixed.

Looks like we are still waiting on words from the Fed and ECB.

Data through May 2012, released today by S&P Dow Jones Indices for its S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices, showed that average home prices increased by 2.2% in May over April for both the 10- and 20-City Composite.
