DJIA / Market Close for Wednesday, January 18, 2012

The Dow closed the day up 96.88 (+0.78%) at 12,578.95. Nasdaq, S&P 500 and Russell 2000 all closed higher. The Russell 2000 out performed them all, rising +1.79% for the day.

The Dow Dogs had one loser, Verizon (VZ).

The Small Dogs were all up today.

The Dow 30 had three losers, BA, VZ and MSFT.

Cramer’s charitable trust portfolio did very well with only two down stocks on the 34 stock portfolio.

Bank of America (BAC) and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) led the 30 Dow stocks today with gains of 4.9% and 4.7% and can be attributed to Goldman Sachs earnings report today. Goldman Sachs was up 6.8% on the day.

For the year to date:

The Dow is up 3 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 4 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 6.3 percent.

The Russell 2000 is up 5.2%.

PSVIX is up 3.1%.
