Market Close for Tuesday, October 05, 2010

After the close…

We have DMND down -6.1% following its earnings report.

We got fresh four-month highs as buyers provided broad support while the dollar dropped steeply, which was sunk by speculation of further quantitative easing.

After the close, notable stocks reporting earnings include YUM, DMND and TISI.

Futures are lower after hours: S&P 500 futures are -1.21 from fair value of 1156.31 and Nasdaq100 futures -2.97 points from fair value of 2022.47.

All ten sectors were in positive territory, led by materials (+2.8%), industrials (+2.7%) and financials (+2.4%).

Tomorrow before the open we have three economic reports scheduled to be released: 1) MBA Mortgage Application (Consensus N/A), Challenger Job Cuts (Consensus N/A) and ADP Employment Change (Consensus 18K).

Also before the open expect the following companies to report earnings: AYI, STZ, COST, HELE, MON, RBN, and RPM.

Earnings will be ramping up over the next several weeks.
