DJIA Market Happenings For Monday, December 28, 2020

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +157 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +70.04 (+0.23%) at 30,199.87.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +5.82%.

There were 19 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Visa (V) 208.70 (+1.66%), Intel (INTC) 47.07 (+1.07%) and Procter & Gamble (PG) 137.72 (+1.01%).

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Boeing (BA) 217.15 (-1.16%), Salesforce (CRM) 225.78 (-0.73%) and Walgreens (WBA) 39.62 (-0.63%).

Five days after calling it a “disgrace,” Trump signed into law the coronavirus relief and government funding bill that extends additional unemployment benefits into March and includes $600 in direct payments to most Americans. Trump had refused to sign the bill, in part because the measure did not include direct payments of $2,000. Economists across the country, along with the Federal Reserve, had called for more fiscal stimulus to aid the economy’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

European stocks are mostly higher and Asian markets ended mostly higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.252 per gallon.
