DJIA Market Happenings For Friday, September 25, 2020

There are no Dow stocks hitting 52 week highs. There are no Dow stock 52 week lows.

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -113 points.

Thursday the Dow was up +52.31 (+0.20%) at 26,815.44.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -6.04%.

There were 17 Dow stocks up Thursday.

The Dow stock winners Thursday were led by Goldman Sachs (GS) 195.11 (+4.83%), Microsoft (MSFT) 203.19 (+1.30%) and Apple (AAPL) 108.22 (+1.03%).

The Dow stock losers Thursday were led by Boeing (BA) 146.05 (-3.39%), Nike (NKE) 124.75 (-1.86%) and Cisco (CSCO) 37.85 (-1.12%).

House Democrats are preparing a new, smaller coronavirus relief package expected to cost about $2.4 trillion, a person familiar with the plans said. The bill would include a federal unemployment benefits boost, direct payments to Americans, small-business loan funding and aid to airlines.

Total U.S. coronavirus cases neared 7 million, according to data from Johns Hopkins University on Friday morning. Deaths in the U.S. from Covid-19 exceeded 200,000 earlier this week as global fatalities approached 1 million on almost 32.3 million infections.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down three-tenths of a cent at $2.193 per gallon.

Earnings Reports

Nike (NKE) 116.87 (+3.09%) reported earnings on 9/22/2020 after the market close of $0.95, beating estimates calling for $0.458 per share. Last I checked it was trading at 132.15 in after-hours. [Closed at $114.90, +1.93% on 9/9/2020]
