DJIA Market Happenings For Monday, September 21, 2020

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -592 points.

Friday the Dow was down -244.56 (-0.88%) at 27,657.42.

Year-to-date the Dow is down -1.77%.

There were 4 Dow stocks up Friday.

The Dow stock winners Friday were led by Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) 149.18 (+1.37%), UnitedHealth (UNH) 308.02 (+1.00%) and Merck (MRK) 85.81 (+0.20%).

The Dow stock losers Friday were led by Boeing (BA) 161.14 (-3.81%), Apple (AAPL) 106.84 (-3.17%) and IBM (IBM) 122.76 (-1.73%).

Walmart (WMT) CEO Doug McMillon just sealed his most important deal (and there have been quite a few to speak of) since taking over as CEO in February 2014, McMillon over the weekend signed off on a partnership with Oracle that will find it as an investor in social media juggernaut TikTok. Walmart didn’t disclose how much it will pay for its 7.5% stake in the new TikTok Global (although reports have Walmart and Oracle shelling out a combined $12 billion for their total 20% stake).

Brent crude dropped 1.7% to $42.42 a barrel. Analysts said the drop was triggered by signals that Libya could renew its supply of oil to the global market at a time when demand for oil has dropped.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended lower.

The national average price of gasoline is down one-tenth of a cent at $2.180 per gallon.
