The Dow Market Happenings For Wednesday, January 9, 2018

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open up +127 points.

Tuesday the Dow was up +256.10 (+1.09%) at 23,787.45.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +1.97%.

There were 26 Dow stocks up Tuesday.

The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by Boeing (BA) +.79%, Verizon (VZ) +2.93% and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) +2.32%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Chevron (CVX) -0.44%, Travelers (TRV) -0.39% and Goldman Sachs (GS) -0.37%.

HSBC upgrades Nike (NKE) to buy from neutral and also raised its price target from $92 to $95, representing a 25 percent rally from here.

But then, Nike (NKE) was downgraded by Baird on concerns about valuation.

European stocks are higher and Asian markets ended higher.

The national average price of gasoline is down two-tenths of a cent at $2.230 per gallon.

Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) reports earnings on 1/22/2019 before the market open.

Travelers (TRV) reports earnings on 1/22/2019 before the market open.
