DJIA Market Happenings For Wednesday, October 26, 2016

The Market

Premarket today, the Dow was indicated to open down -64 points.

Tuesday the Dow was down -53.76 (-0.30%) at 18,169.27.

Year-to-date the Dow is up +4.27%.

The Dow stock winners Tuesday were led by Procter & Gamble (PG) +3.41% and Merck (MRK) +1.98%.

The Dow stock losers Tuesday were led by Home Depot (HD) -3.47% and 3M (MMM) -2.94%.

Apple (AAPL) reported quarterly profit of $1.67 per share, a penny a share above estimates. Revenue was in line with forecasts, but it did post its first year-over-year decline in profit and revenue since 2001. The company predicted a return to profit growth in the current quarter, helped by iPhone 7 sales.

Boeing (BA) earnings beat estimates by 21 cents a share, with adjusted quarterly profit of $2.81 per share. Revenue also beat forecasts, and the company raised its full-year revenue and profit forecast.

Coca-Cola (KO) reported adjusted quarterly earnings of 49 cents per share, beating Street forecasts by a penny a share. Revenue was also above estimates. Coke said it’s had 4 percent organic sales growth so far this year, and has also seen margins expand more than 50 basis points.

European stocks are lower and Asian markets ended mostly lower.

The national average price of gasoline is up three-tenths of a cent at $2.228 per gallon.
