Market Happenings for Wednesday, March 14, 2012

Indices opened mixed this morning. Looks like the market is pausing after yesterdays rise. Gainers this morning Include ZION, CLF, RF, LSI and BAC while losers include STI, MET, C, FITB and PRU. Crude and oil are both down with gold off more than -2%.

The Market

Euro stocks are up while Asian markets closed mostly higher.

The dollar lost against the euro, and British pound, but rose versus the Japanese yen.

Oil for April delivery lost 18 cents to $106.53 a barrel.

Gold futures for April delivery dropped $36.60 to $1,657.60 an ounce.

The price on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury fell, pushing the yield up to 2.19% from 2.11% late Tuesday.

So far this morning, 11 of the 30 Dow stocks are down with the DJIA currently up +20 points. Dow leaders are AXP (+2.84%), BAC, BA, GE and HD.

0830 ET Feb import price index expected +0.6% m/m and +5.9% y/y, Jan +0.3% m/m and +7.1% y/y.

0830 ET Q4 current account balance expected -$114.80 billion, Q3 -$110.28 billion.
