DJIA / Market Close for Monday, January 30, 2012

Stocks are up a bit in after-hours trading.

The Dow lost -6.74 (-0.05%) to close at 12,653.72 today. The S&P 500, Nasdaq and Russell 2000 were all down too.

Of course, financial stocks were among the worst losers of the day.

BAC was down 3.02%, AXP -1.46% and JPM -0.54%.

Tomorrow XOM reports earnings before the open.

The dollar rose against the euro and British pound but fell versus the Japanese yen.

Oil for March delivery slipped 78 cents to end at $98.78 a barrel.

Gold futures for April delivery fell $1.00 to end at $1,734.40 an ounce.

The price on the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury rose, moving the yield down to 1.84% from 1.90%.

Investment Company Institute released data today showing mutual funds saw outflows of $130.3 billion last year, more than three times the outflows of the $36.7 billion in 2010. Also, despite the ~20% rally in the S&P 500 since early October, there were outflows of $28.8 billion in December 2011 alone. Wow!

PSVIX and ODVYX were of course both down today. I am watching for signs of a point to sell the start of a dip.
