Market Close for Wednesday, January 11, 2012

The Dow was down -13.02 (-0.10%) to 12,449.45 today. Nasdaq, S&P 500 and Russell 2000 all closed higher. My favorite, the Russell 2000, beat them all, rising a whole, whopping, +0.33%. It’s my favorite because of its volatility and the mutual fund that most of my money is in, PSVIX , is based on that index and performs close to the index performance.

The Dow 30 had 16 stocks down and 14 stocks up.

The Dow Dogs had 5 stocks up and 5 down.

Cramer’s charitable trust portfolio had 16 stocks down and 18 stocks up.

Top 5 Dow yielders, had 3 stocks up and 2 down.

The Small Dogs also had had 3 stocks up and 2 down.

So, it was a boring inside day.

BAC (+3.62%), AA, JPM , CSCO and UTX were the top Dow 30 performers today.

DIS (-2.35%), KO, CVX, PG and XOM were the Dow 30 top losers today.

Coca-Cola (KO) fell 1.9% after UBS downgraded it to neutral from a buy.

Chevron (CVX) reported that fourth-quarter 2011 earnings are expected to be significantly below Q3 2011 results.
