Investors Say So Long To 2011 And Good Riddance

The Market has closed the book for 2011.

The DJIA ended the week down -0.6%, S&P 500 -0.6%, Nasdaq -0.5% and Russell 2000 -0.9%.

For the year, DJIA was up +5.5% and the only winner of the four indices. The S&P 500 was down -0.0%, Nasdaq -1.8% and Russell 2000 -5.5% for the year.

So basically, it was a crappy year compared to 2010 returns. For the year 2010, DJIA was up +10.8%, S&P 500 +12.6%, Nasdaq Composite +16.9% and Russell 2000 +26.1%.

If you were investing in International during 2011, its likely you lost -10 to -20% of your capital. It was not the place to be. The U.S. faired a whole lot better.
