Market Close for Friday, December 16, 2011

The Dow ended the week down -2.6% with the Nasdaq down-3.5%, S&P 500 -2.8% and Russell 2000 -3.1%. Year to date, the Dow is up +2.5%, Nasdaq -3.7%, S&P 500 -3% and Russell 2000 -7.9%. My favorite mutual fund, PSVIX, is down -3.9% for the year and was up +0.77% Friday.

Markets closed mixed on Wall Street today, with the Dow -0.02%, S&P +0.32%, Nasdaq +0.56%, Oil +0.11% and Gold +1.44%. On the commodities front, Oil (NYSE:USO) climbed slightly to $93.97 a barrel. Precious metals were up, with Gold (NYSE:GLD) climbing to $1,599.90 an ounce while Silver (NYSE:SLV) climbed 1.35% to settle at $29.67.
