DJIA / Market Close for Wednesday, March 30, 2011

After the close…

We have BRK.B down -2.3% as David Sokol Resigns and MOS down -1.7% following their earnings report.

Another great day today. The Russell 2000 and S&P 600 Smallcap Indexes hit new highs. Sorry, the DOW and S&P 500 haven’t yet made it back to a new high. Maybe a couple of days, like when the Jobs report comes out on Friday. Current buying interest has the stock market on pace for its best first quarter performance since 1998.

After the close, notable stocks reporting earnings include MOS, DRYS, GMR, ES and OMER.

Mosaic (MOS) reported Q3 (Feb) earnings of $1.21 per share, $0.14 better than consensus of $1.07; revenues rose 27.9% year/year to $2.21 bln vs the $2.34 bln consensus.

Hershey (HSY) Hershey Foods reaffirmed its FY11 outlook and announced price increases.

Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) reports that Warren E. Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, announced the resignation of David L. Sokol.

Also tomorrow before the open we have one economic report scheduled to be released. Initial claims (Consensus 383K) and Continuing claims (Consensus 3700K).

Tomorrow before the open look for the following companies to report: APWR, KMX, CHINA, CONN, RBN, WOR, and YUII.
